Brief Note
The Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) project was endorsed by the ASEAN Working Group on Chemicals and Waste and ASEAN Senior Officials on the Environment and funded through the JAIF. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the prevention of the adverse impacts of mercury on health and the environment through the environmentally sound management of used thermometers and sphygmomanometers in the ASEAN Member States. The project duration is from October 2019 to September 2021. The target countries for this project are Indonesia and the Philippines. Project activities include development of guidelines on environmentally sound management of mercury-containing medical measuring devices, inventory, capacity building through in-country workshops and regional workshop.
